Dear Parents & Caregivers,
Thank you all who could come out for our open houses in support of our schools and students. We appreciate your time and input as we work together to fulfil the needs of our students.
We are excited to welcome Christophe Lagier to our team. Monsieur Lagier will be teaching French in Gilman on Mondays, and he will be in Lunenburg on Tuesdays pushing in with music for our kindergarteners, first grade, and second-grade classes. He will teach French lessons to our third and fourth graders.
We have had a few bumps in our schedule as we are down a core teacher this year. When we developed our Master Schedule we had fewer students in seventh grade. With the growing class size, we have found that it’s not an optimal learning environment for our students. Starting next week, we also welcome Marie Snyder as a part-time Math Interventionist. Mrs. Snyder will be teaching with Mrs. Holmes in the combined sixth and seventh-grade math/science block. This is the only block that we will have to keep combined. We have managed to change the schedule so that these grades can be in separate classes. We will begin the new schedule on Monday. See attached.
In the past, chorus has been mandatory for fifth and sixth-grade students. We are finding that this requirement isn’t working out as we had planned. If you would like your child to continue with the extra chorus class, please have that conversation with your child. They will no longer be required to go. It will be their choice along with yours. They will continue with weekly music classes.
Wednesday, September 18th: Early Release@ 12:00 Professional Learning for Teachers. Please pick your child up promptly at noon if they are not riding the bus. Teachers need to travel for their PL. Thank you!
Thursday, September 19th: Principal’s Advisory Committee Meeting at the Gilman School from 5:30-6:30. This is a time to hear about what’s going on in school, a chance to chat with school board members and hear from the PTO. In the future, we will also have students present their learning. On the 19th, we will be giving a brief presentation about the new report cards that we will be using this year.
Thank you for your ongoing support. Please call or email with any questions or concerns.
