The Burke Town School looking for a responsible individual to maintain and protect our facilities.  This position is part-time, 27.5 hours, primarily afternoon and evenings during the school year and days during school vacations. The position includes customary cleaning and maintenance, including moving furniture, minor repairs and painting, snow removal in the winter, etc.  Physical endurance, an eye for detail and experience with cleaning equipment such as floor machines preferred, as well as flexibility for weekend special events.

The Concord school is seeking a Physical Education Teacher.  The Educator is responsible for creating a classroom environment that fosters, promotes and develops an understanding of the relationship of healthy body function and exercise; that motivates each student to cultivate physical fitness, and appropriate social and emotional adjustment; that discovers and develop talents of students in physical achievement; and that develops strength, skill, agility, poise, and coordination in individual, dual and team physical activities and sports, in accordance with each student’s ability.  This position has the possibility to be combined with other positions to make full time.

  1. Teaches knowledge and skills in physical fitness and  individual, dual or team sports, utilizing curriculum designated by Kingdom East School District/Concord School and other appropriate learning activities.
  2. Works cooperatively with other physical education teachers in Kingdom East through planning and implementing a balanced physical education program.
  3. Analyzes, demonstrates, and explains basic skills, knowledge and strategies of formal sports, games, rhythms, and fundamentals of body movement.
  4. Develops lesson plans and supplementary materials compatible with Kingdom East/Concord School’s standards; provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student and subgroups of students.
  5. Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior through Concord School’s PBIS philosophy to provide an orderly, productive environment in the physical education areas.
  6. Provides appropriate safety instruction and makes safety checks on equipment and field areas to ensure the overall safety of students.
  7. Evaluates academic and social growth of students, prepares report cards, and keeps appropriate records to include attendance reports, checklists and other recordkeeping activities as necessary.
  8. Maintains control of storage and use of school property.
  9. Evaluates each student’s growth in physical skills, knowledge and contribution in team sports.
  10. Communicates with parents and the school counselor/nurse on student progress.
  11. Supervises students in out of classroom activities during the assigned working day.
  12. Administers testing in accordance with Vermont practices
  13. Models non-discriminatory practices in all activities.
  14. Maintains professional competence by attending staff development programs, curriculum development meetings and other professional activities.
  15. Participates in various student and parent activities which occur in school including the Booster Club, student clubs and after-school activities.
  16. Creates an effective learning environment through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and activity/learning centers.
  17. Performs any other related duties as assigned by the Principal.

Kingdom East School District (KESD) is seeking a qualified School Psychologist to administer and interpret cognitive, academic and social-emotional functioning assessments for the 2019-20 school year. This position is an integral part of the special education evaluation team and collaborates closely with other evaluators, special educators, principals and classroom teachers to support the process of determining student eligibility for special education. The Psychologist also provides clinical supervision to school-based therapist in providing therapeutic intervention as part of a comprehensive system of student support. Successful candidates will possess advanced degrees in School Psychology and be eligible for licensure as a School Psychologist by the Vermont Agency of Education.

STEM Adventure Coordinator - Afterschool Program

STEM Adventure Coordinator - Afterschool Program

This first year of a unique Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Adventure Program will provide students in grades 6, 7 and 8 the opportunity to learn STEM skills through a series of nine field trips to a variety of community partner sites during the 2019-2020 school year.  The STEM Adventure Coordinator will provide meaningful opportunities for peer-to-peer knowledge sharing about STEM activities and careers, as well as provide students with technical experience and training that links hands-on work with community partners to school learning during the day.   There is an opportunity to combine this with a STEM academic position to make it full time.

The STEM Adventure Coordinator will: 

*Develop a district wide student leadership council for students in grades 6-8

*Host Zoom Video Conference meetings with the student leadership council to enable students to collaborate across our schools in planning field trips.

*Recruit, hire and supervise 10 Adventure Leaders 

*Recruit and supervise up to 50 students during the trips

*Manage all details of the Adventure trips (locations, meals, transportation, scheduling)

*Design planning and reflection activities for each trip

*Develop systems of monitoring and showcasing academic outcomes and student-led end-of-year culmination projects.

*Meet regularly with the 21C Director, school principals, district science teachers and 21C Site Coordinator

*Assess and adapt the program throughout its first year

*Comply with all grant and school district requirements.

Adventure trips will take place on six early release Wednesdays (when students leave at noon) and three Saturdays throughout the school calendar.  This is a part time, school year position (approx. 30 hours per month).  The hourly pay is $21.

Interim Literacy Coach

Kingdom East School District is looking to hire an interim Literacy Coach to join our instructional team as we implement a balanced literacy approach within a workshop model district-wide. The candidate must be a dynamic, high quality literacy leader interested in joining a forward thinking organization. Responsibilities include working collaboratively with classroom teachers to strengthen their literacy program (including lesson studies, lab sites, instructional rounds and other embedded programs), providing professional learning, collaborating, ensuring a written curriculum, using formative and summative assessments to drive professional learning, and working with a district literacy steering committee to guide literacy instruction district-wide. Individual will work closely with Director of Innovation and Learning, the instructional coaching team, and principals.

Experience with PreK-8 effective literacy strategies, workshop model, Teachers’ College reading and writing units of study, Common Core, the PLC at Work collaborative approach, Universal Design for Learning and formative assessment is a priority. The district provides mentorship and a supportive administration.

Licensed Nursing Assistant

Kingdom East School District has a need for a Nursing Assistant to provide treatment and care to student(s) with acute medical needs, at the Lyndon Town School. Under the guidelines of both a Medical Care Plan and an Individualized Education Program, this position will provide necessary care and treatment during the 2019-20 school year. Kingdom East School District is looking for enthusiastic, friendly, and creative Group Leaders for our K–8 afterschool programs.

We are seeking energetic individuals who can lead hands-on, engaging, project-based learning activities with elementary and/or middle school students.  This is a part time, school year position located at the school. Program hours are primarily Monday-Friday, 2:30–5:30 p.m. when school is open. The hourly pay is $14.  Gain experience doing something that you love!

*High school diploma or the equivalent required

*At least 1 year of relevant experience required

*Associate or bachelor degree preferred

*Citizenship, residency or work VISA in United States required

Newark Street School is part of the Kingdom East School District, located in the heart of a vibrant, community in the Northeast, Vermont.  We operate seven preK-8th grade schools ranging from 60 to 500 students. Our high school students have “choice” and may opt to attend one of the traditional independent schools -- Lyndon Institute or St. Johnsbury Academy -- or another high school of their choice.

Behavior Interventionist - Miller’s Run School

KESD is seeking a Behavioral Interventionist (BI) to provide intensive support and therapeutic interventions to students with social/emotional and behavior management needs.
This position is based at the Miller’s Run School, working under the direction of a special educator and the supervision of the principal.  The BI will implement intensive, goal-directed, student-centered services that provides access to standards-based instruction both in and outside the classroom.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Associates Degree in Human services or related field; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of 3 years providing instruction and/or therapeutic support under the requirements of an individual education program. Preference given to experiences with social skills development, autism, behavior management and de-escalation skills. Knowledge of PBIS a plus. Willing and able to implement a behavior management plan.
  • Clean driving record and criminal background check required.
  • Salary range commensurate with education and experience.
  • Includes benefits.
