The Burke Town School, serving children in PreK- grade 8, announces the hiring of a Literacy Intervention teacher. Candidates must be dynamic, high quality literacy leaders interested in joining a high energy PLC school. Responsibilities include both delivering explicit literacy intervention to small groups of students and working collaboratively with classroom teachers to strengthen their literacy program.  This literacy intervention teacher caseload is generally 12-16 students with a focus on students needing early literacy intervention in kindergarten and first grade. Second and third grade small group intervention is also a possibility.  Individual will work closely with school and SU level literacy coaches, and school literacy specialists.  

Experience with primary literacy strategies, workshop model, F&P, reading and writing units of study, Common Core, PLC collaboration, positive behavior interventions, formative assessments, LLI and/or Reading Recovery or other intervention programs and Responsive Classroom are a priority.  We seek creative, passionate teachers with a sense of humor and genuine love for working with young people while supporting teachers to improve in literacy instruction. The Principal will oversee approximately 220 students and a staff of 45 who are dedicated to providing an outstanding educational experience for all students. Minimum qualifications:

  • Associates Degree in Human services or related field; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

The Sutton Village School, serving about 90 children K-grade 8, announces the hiring of a mathematics and science teacher for our 6th, 7th, and 8thgrade middle school team.  Candidates must be dynamic, high-quality teachers interested in joining a school focused on personalization and authentic learning. Responsibilities include delivering mathematics using the Open Up Resources through a workshop model. Teachers shall follow the Common Core Standards and the Next Generation Science Standards when delivering math and science instruction.  Teachers will also work closely within a collaborative team of middle school teachers, special education teachers, interventionists, and coaches to develop project-based learning units and integrative learning opportunities.  

 Experience with evidence based mathematics strategies, workshop model, OGAP mathematics practices, Common Core, PLC collaboration, positive behavior interventions, formative assessments, and responsive classroom/developmental designs are a priority. We seek creative, passionate teachers with a sense of humor and genuine love for working with young people while collaborating to achieve high levels of student learning.  The district provides mentorship and a supportive administration.  

Sutton Village School is part of the Kingdom East School District, located in the heart of a vibrant community in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont.  We operate seven preK-8th grade schools ranging from 60 to 500 students.
