This week’s model citizens are the entire 5th Grade Class. This group has demonstrated an incredible enthusiasm for learning to start the school year. They have been eager to read… in school, out of school, with partners, and reading aloud as a class. In math they have explored the concept of volume and have created amazing posters to demonstrate their knowledge. In Health, they have reflected on who they are and the decisions they make that impact themselves and others. We are incredibly proud of the efforts from all of you individually and as a group working cooperatively together!
We believe Newark Street School is a global model of how rural, small school education provides a pathway to exciting experiences, happiness, and longevity. We have merged all community members (students, teachers, support staff, instructional assistants,
administrators, and families) to work side-by-side as learning partners who become increasingly prepared to explore the world and better serve our community.

Thank you for your patience as we get our new website up and going. We just received training on website management and will be populating pages with information in the coming weeks. https://kingdomeast.org/schools/newark-stre et-school/
Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter will also be by the Kingdom East and Newark to share information.
As a community, we really want to ensure that student learning is cared for and that our students recognize the school as a safe and exciting place to be.
Being present and on time each day is incredibly important for all learners. All students should be in homeroom at 8am. Ideally, this means they are in school prior to 8am. While 8:10, 8:05, or even 8:02 might not seem like a big deal, I can tell you that it completely disrupts the flow of the morning for the entire Morning Meeting and Advisory to start the day.
For us, 8-8:15am is arguably the most important time of the day. It gives us an opportunity to check in with students. There is a big focus on Social and Emotional learning, Responsive Classroom, and Community Building. It is also a time for students to simply settle in and get all the news they need to prepare for the day.
Students who come in late are stressed and rushed and that impacts their learning and the learning of their classmates for the rest of the day. Along with this, missing school days entirely can also be a set-back for students.
Please know that excessive tardies and absences will prompt notifications home and we will follow school board procedures for truancy.
We love your children and want them in school with us from 8am-3pm. Thank you
Saturday September 14th, 1pm – St. Johnsbury Bluegrass Festival
Saturday September 28th – Burke Fall Festival
The afterschool program starts up next Monday, September 16th!
Please sign up or email Sue Winsor swinsor@kingdomeast.org with any questions.
Afterschool is free, but donations are important for us to sustain high quality programming. Any amount helps to sustain our program.
Thank you!
There will be no afterschool on Fridays this year, however, we are looking for creative ways to provide students with Friday afternoon activities to support students and families. Please keep an eye and an ear out for more information.
One way to get involved in Friday afternoon activities is to join the new Kingdom East Athletics Program. Please connect with the new Athletic Director, Kelly Walsh kwalsh@kingdomeast.org, if you have any questions.
Currently, several Newark students are participating in Cross Country and Soccer with students from Burke and Sutton. Students are transported to Burke at the end of the school day and are picked up by parents at 5:15pm.
This past weekend, middle school cross country runners from all of Kingdom East competed together as a team in Craftsbury.
Yesterday, the soccer teams had their first competition in Concord. Currently, over 170 students throughout Kingdom East are participating in our athletic programs!
